Time-controlled sequence controls run according to a fixed schedule. The individual steps are carried out at predetermined times, regardless of the status of other activities or processes.
Process-guided sequence control, on the other hand, focuses on the process sequences themselves. This type of control reacts to certain events or conditions within the process. For example, individual steps can be triggered as soon as an active step is completed. It is therefore obvious that process-dependent sequence control is the supreme discipline in the field of process control and can also react flexibly to random irregularities.
With JUMO's sequence control, both time-controlled and process-controlled sequence controls and their logical linking (AND, OR) are possible.
Step chain programming is required for the vast majority of sequence controllers. Programmable logic controllers (PLCs) are programmed in an industrial environment using a special programming environment (in accordance with IEC 61131-3). This is used to implement the specific program sequences. This also includes setting up mechanisms for recognizing and reacting to errors or unforeseen events during the process.
With JUMO sequence control, process steps and plant types are created using JUMO smartWARE Setup and the programs are created using JUMO smartWARE Program. There is no need to program sequence chains, as sequence control can be achieved quickly using a simple intuitive configuration. The CODESYS programming environment can be used to individualize the entire solution. It also provides a ready-made visualization for the plant operator.
